Stump Cross is a wayside cross located on Bransdale Ridge in North Yorkshire. The monument consists of the lower portion of a medieval stone cross, of which only the stepped base and lower shaft remain standing, the upper sections having been lost or damaged over time. The cross dates to the medieval period and would have served as a marker along what was likely a significant routeway across the moorland, possibly connected to pilgrimage routes or droving tracks. Such wayside crosses were common features of the medieval landscape and often functioned as navigation points for travellers crossing exposed upland terrain.
