Windmill stump is a fragmentary remains of a windmill located in County Down, Northern Ireland. The monument preserves the base or lower portion of what was formerly a post mill or tower mill, representing the industrial heritage of the region's milling economy. Such structures were typically erected during the eighteenth or nineteenth century to harness wind power for grain milling or other processing activities. The survival of only the stump indicates significant loss of the original structure, yet it remains an important record of rural industrial development in Ulster during the early modern period.
