World War II Heavy Anti-aircraft gunsite (TS15), 250m east of Cobhambury Farm, is a scheduled ancient monument comprising the remains of a coastal defence installation constructed during the Second World War. The site contains the physical evidence of gun emplacements and associated structures typical of heavy anti-aircraft gun positions established to protect against aerial attack during the period of German air operations over southeast England. The monument represents the substantial investment in air defence infrastructure undertaken across Kent and other threatened regions following the commencement of intensive bombing campaigns from 1940 onwards. As a scheduled monument, the site retains archaeological significance for the study of wartime military organisation and the material culture of British air defence during the conflict.
