Biography

Alice Terry, born in Vincennes, Indiana in 1899, was an American film actress and director who worked during the silent film era. Between 1916 and 1933, she appeared in thirty-nine films, including Civilization, in which she played several roles, and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, where she played "Marguerite." Though known for blonde hair, she was naturally a brunette and first wore a blonde wig for Hearts Are Trumps in 1920. In the 1930s, she and her husband Rex Ingram established a studio in Nice on the French Riviera and produced films shot in North Africa, Spain, and Italy. Her final film appearance came in 1933 in Baroud, which she co-directed with her husband. She died in 1987.
