Biography

Alvin Kraenzlein was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 12, 1876, and died on January 6, 1928. He was a track-and-field athlete who won four individual gold medals in a single discipline at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris. Kraenzlein developed a straight-leg hurdling technique and set two world hurdle records. He was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1974 and the Olympic Hall of Fame in 1984.
