Beulah Bondi was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on May 3, 1888 and died on January 11, 1981. She worked as a stage, film, and television actor, often playing eccentric mothers, grandmothers, and wives alongside other roles. She began performing as a child in theater during the late 19th century, and after establishing herself as a Broadway stage actress in 1925, she reprised her role in Street Scene for the 1931 film version.
