Biography

Dalton Trumbo was born in Montrose, Colorado in 1905 and worked as a screenwriter, novelist, director, and producer. He wrote screenplays for Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944), Roman Holiday (1953), Spartacus (1960), and Exodus (1960). As one of the Hollywood Ten, he refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947 when the committee investigated Communist influences in the motion picture industry. He died in 1976.
