David Eden Lane was born in Woden, Iowa in 1938 and worked as a journalist and real-estate agent. He co-founded The Order, a white supremacist organization, and was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy, and violating the civil rights of Alan Berg, a Jewish radio talk show host. Prosecutors alleged Berg was murdered by a member of the group in a drive-by shooting with Lane acting as driver, though murder convictions were not obtained. He received a sentence of 190 years in prison and died in 2007 while incarcerated at FCI Terre Haute in Indiana.
