Biography

Dinah Washington was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1924 and worked as a jazz musician, songwriter, and singer. She recorded across jazz, blues, R&B, and traditional pop music during the 1950s and adopted the titles "Queen of the Blues" and "Queen of the Jukeboxes". She was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. She died in 1963.
