Ed Gein was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1906 and died in 1984. He committed murders and grave robbing around Plainfield, Wisconsin, with his crimes drawing widespread attention in 1957 when authorities found he had taken corpses from local graveyards and made objects from their bones and skin. He confessed to killing tavern owner Mary Hogan in 1954 and hardware store owner Bernice Worden in 1957.
