Elmo Lincoln was born in Rochester, Indiana in 1889 and died in 1952. He worked as a stage and film actor, appearing in more than 100 screen productions between 1913 and 1952 across both the silent and sound film eras. He was the first actor to play Tarzan on film, taking on the role in the 1918 release Tarzan of the Apes, a character created by novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs.
