Ernest Beaumont Schoedsack was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1893 and worked as a cinematographer, producer, and director in motion pictures. During World War I, he served as a cameraman with the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and after the war remained in Europe to advance his career. He collaborated with Merian C. Cooper on films including King Kong, Chang: A Drama of the Wilderness, and The Most Dangerous Game, and worked with screenwriter Ruth Rose, whom he married.
