Fred Schule was born in Preston, Iowa, in 1879 and died in 1962. He competed in track and field at the University of Wisconsin from 1900 to 1901 and at the University of Michigan in 1904. He played football for Michigan's 1903 team, which outscored its opponents 565 to 6. He worked as an athletic coach, teacher, bacteriologist, and engineer.
