Gary Peacock was born on May 12, 1935, in Burley, Idaho, and died on September 4, 2020. An American jazz double bassist, he recorded a dozen albums as a leader and performed with Albert Ayler, Bill Evans, Paul Bley, and Marilyn Crispell, among others. He was part of Keith Jarrett's Standards Trio with drummer Jack DeJohnette for more than thirty years, during which the group recorded over twenty albums together.
