Harry Harlow was born on October 31, 1905, in Fairfield, Iowa, and died on December 6, 1981. An ethologist and psychologist, he conducted experiments on rhesus monkeys examining maternal separation, dependency needs, and social isolation, work performed chiefly at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Abraham Maslow, a humanistic psychologist, worked with him briefly during this period.
