Biography

Hiram Fong was born in Honolulu in 1906 and worked as a prosecutor and politician. He served as a United States Senator from Hawaii from 1959 to 1977, one of the first two senators after Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959. He was the first Chinese American and first Asian American to hold the office. Fong died in 2004.
