Biography

James Edwin Gunn was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1923 and died in 2020. He worked as a science fiction writer, novelist, journalist, and scholar of English. His editorial work included the six-volume Road to Science Fiction series. In 1983 he won the Hugo Award for "Best Related Work" for a book about Isaac Asimov. The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America named him its 24th Grand Master in 2007, and he was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2015. His novel The Immortals was adapted into a television series that aired in 1970–71 and starred Christopher George.
