Biography
Jane Darwell was born in Marion County, Missouri in 1879 and worked as a stage and film actor. She appeared in more than 100 major movies over five decades and received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the matriarch of the Joad family in the film adaptation of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. She died in 1967.
