Biography
Leon Spinks was born in St. Louis in 1953 and worked as a boxer from 1977 to 1995. In his eighth professional fight, he defeated Muhammad Ali in a split decision in 1978 to win the undisputed heavyweight championship. Seven months later, Spinks lost to Ali in a rematch by unanimous decision, after which he was stripped of the WBC title for the unapproved bout.
