Marcia Wallace was born in Creston, Iowa, in 1942 and worked as an actress, comedian, and voice actor. She appeared on stage and screen, and in television and film. She played receptionist Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show in the 1970s, Mrs. Carruthers on Full House, and provided the voice of elementary school teacher Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons, winning an Emmy in 1992 for the role. Wallace died in 2013.
