Biography

Mary Scott McKee was born in Indianapolis in 1858 and worked as a politician. During her father Benjamin Harrison's presidency, she lived in the White House and assisted her mother, first lady Caroline Harrison. After her mother's death in October 1892, McKee served as acting first lady for the remainder of her father's time in office. Her son, known as Baby Harrison, became a popular national figure during the Harrison administration.
