Biography
Matthew Shepard was born in Casper, Wyoming, on December 1, 1976. He was a student at the University of Wyoming who was beaten and tortured on October 6, 1998, near Laramie and left in that condition. He was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he died on October 12, 1998, from severe head injuries sustained in the attack.
