Biography

Oliver Edward Nelson was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1932 and worked as a jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, arranger, and bandleader. His 1961 album The Blues and the Abstract Truth, released on Impulse!, contained his composition "Stolen Moments." Nelson recorded additional albums for Impulse! during the 1960s, including More Blues and the Abstract Truth in 1964 and Sound Pieces in 1966. He died in 1975.
