Paul D. Boyer was born in Provo, Utah, in 1918 and died in 2018. A biochemist and chemist, he held a professorship in chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1997, he shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with John E. Walker for work on the enzymatic mechanism of adenosine triphosphate biosynthesis.
