Biography

R. Budd Dwyer was born on November 21, 1939, in St. Charles, Missouri. He served as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1965 to 1971 and then as a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate representing the 50th district from 1971 to 1981. From 1981 until 1987, he held the position of Pennsylvania's 70th treasurer. He died on January 22, 1987, following his conviction for accepting a bribe in the CTA scandal.
