Reg E. Cathey was an American actor who appeared in film, television, and on stage. Born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1958, he died in 2018. He performed on the children's mathematics program Square One Television and took roles including Norman Wilson in The Wire, Martin Querns in Oz, and Freddy Hayes in House of Cards. His portrayal of Freddy Hayes led to three consecutive Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, which he won in 2015.
