Robert Earl Wise was born in Winchester, Indiana in 1914 and died in 2005. He worked as a film editor, director, and producer. Wise won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for West Side Story (1961) and The Sound of Music (1965). He received a nomination for Best Film Editing for Citizen Kane (1941) and directed and produced The Sand Pebbles (1966), which was nominated for Best Picture.
