Vincent Joseph Boryla was born in East Chicago, Indiana, in 1927 and died in 2016. He played basketball at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Denver, earning consensus All-American status in 1949. Boryla competed for the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. He worked as a basketball player, coach, and executive.
