Biography

Walter Cronkite was born in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1916 and worked as a journalist, news presenter, and speaker. He served as anchorman for the CBS Evening News between 1962 and 1981. An opinion poll cited him as "the most trusted man in America" during the 1960s and 1970s. He received two Peabody Awards, a George Polk Award, an Emmy Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He died in 2009.
