History & Significance

Jasper Tudor with a force including French troops raided Denbigh in north Wales in June 1468. Jasper burned part of Denbigh town and attempted to raise a Lancastrian force in north Wales. The raid was designed to coincide with Lancastrian activity in England and to relieve pressure on Harlech Castle. Local Yorkist forces responded but Jasper withdrew before they could bring him to pitched battle.
