History & Significance

As Warwick's Readeption army advanced from the west in October 1470 Edward IV realised he could not hold London and fled via Kings Lynn to the Low Countries. London opened to Warwick who released Henry VI from the Tower on 3 October 1470. The bloodless capture of London made the Readeption possible.
