The Battle

History & Significance

Grantham town in Lincolnshire served as a Royalist garrison outpost supplying Belvoir Castle through the early war period. Parliamentary Eastern Association forces took the town in 1644 as they consolidated Lincolnshire following Winceby and Lincoln. The capture of Grantham closed the resupply corridor to Belvoir from the east.
