History & Significance

During Madog ap Llywelyn 1294-95 uprising, Welsh forces besiege Denbigh Castle, newly built by Henry de Lacy, and attack the surrounding town. The town defenses are compromised though the castle holds. The operation forms part of a coordinated north Wales rising that temporarily reverses much of Edward I conquest.
