A skirmish at Romsey in 1644 between Parliamentary cavalry operating from Winchester and Southampton and Royalist raiding parties from the garrisons of Basing House and Winchester. Romsey commanded the crossing of the Test and was contested as Parliamentary and Royalist forces manoeuvred in central Hampshire.
