The Battle

History & Significance

In 1484 Richard III persuaded the Marquess of Dorset, who was in Tudor's court in exile, to return to England with promises of pardon and restoration. Dorset left the Tudor court but was intercepted by Tudor's agents before he could reach England and brought back. The episode illustrated the tensions within the exile community and Richard's attempts to peel away Tudor supporters.
