The Battle

History & Significance

Warkworth Castle, the chief Percy stronghold in Northumberland, was surrendered to Yorkist forces after the Battle of Towton and the attainder of Henry Percy Earl of Northumberland. The castle was subsequently granted to Montagu before being restored to Percy in 1469 when Edward IV reversed Percy's attainder.
