The last medieval pitched battle between England and Scotland — fought in the debatable lands near the River Sark. A Percy-led English raiding force was ambushed and destroyed by a Scottish force under the Earl of Ormond (Douglas). It followed English raids and demonstrated the continued volatility of the border in the decade before Wars of the Roses occupied England's attention.
