The Great Conspiracy of 367 saw coordinated attacks by Picts, Attacotti, Scots, Saxons, and Franks. Yorkshire's coastline was raided by Saxon sea-wolves; the Wall was breached; the comes maritimi Saxonici was killed. Count Theodosius landed at Richborough, marched north, and systematically restored Roman order. Yorkshire's coastal defences were rebuilt as part of the Saxon Shore system.
