The Battle

History & Significance

During the Battle of Worcester, a party of Scottish musketeers occupied Worcester Cathedral tower and used it as a firing platform to cover the Royalist left flank. Cromwell personally directed artillery fire against the tower to silence the snipers. The use of the medieval tower illustrated the urban nature of the fighting in Worcester.
