The Battle

History & Significance

Bolingbroke Castle in Lincolnshire, birthplace of Henry IV, was garrisoned by Royalists and besieged by Parliamentary Eastern Association forces in October 1643. The siege of Bolingbroke triggered the Royalist relief operation that led to the Battle of Winceby. Following Winceby, the castle surrendered to Parliament.
