The Battle

History & Significance

Following Marston Moor, Royalist forces in the North Riding attempted to maintain themselves through cavalry operations. A skirmish at Masham in Wensleydale in late 1644 between Parliamentary cavalry from Ripon and Royalist remnants illustrated the guerrilla phase of Yorkshire operations as Parliament mopped up after the main battle.
