The Battle

History & Significance

Glyndŵr's supporters attacked the English garrison town of Caernarfon. Though the castle held, the outer town was burned — demonstrating that even Edward I's great fortresses could not protect the surrounding settlements. The psychological impact of burning the birthplace of the first English Prince of Wales was considerable.
