The Battle

History & Significance

With the MacDougalls in exile following their 1308-1309 defeats, the MacDonalds under Angus Og moved to subjugate Lorn and consolidate it as MacDonald territory. The transition from MacDougall to MacDonald supremacy in Argyll was one of the most consequential shifts in Highland politics of the fourteenth century, enabling the eventual creation of the Lordship of the Isles.
