The Battle

History & Significance

Having broken the Silures, Frontinus turned to the Ordovices of central and north Wales. He pushed columns up the Wye and Severn headwaters, establishing forts at Caersws and Forden Gaer to control key valley junctions. He made significant inroads before his term ended and Agricola arrived to deliver the coup de grace. Frontinus had broken the back of the Ordovician resistance network; Agricola received the credit.

Forces Involved

Auxiliary cohorts with legionary vexillation support; specialist mountain troops likely deployed
