After his failed assault on London Thomas Neville the Bastard of Fauconberg retreated to Sandwich with his fleet and remaining Kentish men. He was initially pardoned by Edward IV's agents. However once Edward returned victorious from Tewkesbury Fauconberg was arrested and taken north to Middleham where he was executed in autumn 1471, his head displayed on London Bridge.
