The Battle

History & Significance

The second and more intense phase of the Rebecca Riots spread through Pembrokeshire with systematic destruction of tollgates and their gates and tollhouses. The Pembrokeshire actions in 1842-1843 were more violent than the 1839 phase and involved attacks on workhouses as well as tollgates.
