History & Significance

Robert FitzHamon leads Norman forces into Glamorgan defeating the last Welsh resistance and establishing the great lordship of Glamorgan. The battle breaks Welsh control of the Vale of Glamorgan and begins the intensive Norman colonisation of the region including Cardiff Castle construction. Welsh lords are pushed into the uplands.
