Much of the Parliamentary artillery successfully withdrawn despite the cavalry rout on the left wing. Artillery preservation enabled subsequent Parliamentary campaigning.
The Battle

History & Significance

During the Edgehill battle the Parliamentary artillery on the ridge conducted an active role in the early stages of the engagement before the Parliamentary left wing collapse threatened its position. The successful withdrawal of much of the Parliamentary artillery following the cavalry rout preserved equipment critical for subsequent campaigns.
