History & Significance

After a prolonged siege using some of the largest artillery pieces yet deployed in Britain, Prince Henry captures Aberystwyth Castle. The Welsh garrison under Rhys Ddu surrenders when promised reinforcements from Glyndwr fail to arrive. The fall of Aberystwyth is a major blow to Glyndwr losing his most important west coast stronghold.
