History & Significance

The first significant rebel victory in the field during the 1641 Rebellion. Government forces marching to relieve Drogheda were ambushed and routed at Julianstown Bridge. The defeat shocked the Dublin government and allowed the rebellion to spread rapidly into Leinster.
